The Season I Found My Voice
I wondered why the words came rushing,
why the dreams began to rise,
why my hands reached toward creation
while my heart still searched for my children’s eyes.
I carried love through empty spaces,
I carried grief beneath my smile;
yet somewhere within the sorrow,
a hidden garden came alive.
I am still a mother.
That truth will never fade.
But I am also Joan,
the woman God has made.
The quiet did not erase me,
the storm did not steal my name;
instead, it revealed the voice within me
that was waiting to awaken.
I miss what my heart still longs for,
I grieve what I cannot hold.
Yet I will keep becoming,
with a faith that makes me bold.
For every season bears a purpose,
every tear can nourish growth;
and the woman rising from the ashes
is still the mother they know.
